 Market Roundup....

Cattle Saleable:  2435

The market this week proved to be somewhat better on all classes.  Light calves, no real good test, called steady.  Feeder cattle in a very good offering sold $2-3 better as feedlots seem to need to fill some pens.  Butcher cows continue their upward trend selling fully $2-3 higher.  Bred cows with a special consignment of one iron cows from Lacey Livestock sold very well topping at $1100.00.  Look for the upcoming special that best fit your needs.
As we start the Spring marketing season.  We are seeing an up trend on most all classes.
                                                                                                                         .......see you at ringside, Randy
**Don't forget to take advantage of our vaccination and source & age verified programs.  We have had tremendous response from our buying customers and are striving to get a big percentage of the calves signed up, especially on the vaccination programs.  Please give us a call for more information.**

VLM's New Shot Program

As we approach the upcoming branding season I would like to make everyone aware of our shot programs.  Our shot programs are divided into two types, Basic-Vac and Premium-Vac.  I have included below detailed information for both programs.   I can not emphasize enough how important the implementation of a shot program is.  Not only should herd health be an issue for cattlemen solely on the death loss issues but as a strong marketing tool also.  We are seeing increased demand in our western calf market coming from the mid-west buyers and these buyers are very conscious of health conditions and are willing to pay more per pound for a specific shot program.  Many producers believe that implementation of a shot program can not pay for itself, but in my experience time and time again I have seen results of a properly implemented program that will pay.  Cattle that are on a good shot program will always top the market and it does not cost much to give the right shots.  In the event of a down trend in the market the producers with a good shot program will be rewarded even more.  Be prepared and consider practicing a complete shot program.  We have also implemented a new Age and Source verified program which is also proving to be very rewarding to the producer.  This program consists of the use of electronic ID tags with the Ag Info Link accredited PVP program.  Your Visalia Livestock Representatives are trained auditors for the PVP and will be happy to meet with you and discuss how this program may be beneficial to your operation.  The use of VLM's Age and Source verification program will make your cattle eligible for the export markets and will enhance the demand at market time.  For more information please call me anytime, I would be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have or if you would like to receive a copy of our program feel free to call my office at 559.625.9615.
